Recruitment can be one of the most time-consuming and costly processes of a business.
Ask anyone who works in HR.
It can be overwhelming – deciding which adverts work, what information to include, which job boards to post to… the list goes on.
Equip yourself with the necessary tools and expertise, and you will always be a step ahead of the game.
In fact, there is a formula to hiring success which we have detailed below to help you get 40% more applicants for your role in half the time.
Without further ado, here are 5 steps to getting 40% more applicants for your role.
1) Cover more ground – don’t post to just one board
The quickest win is by posting to more job boards. Sounds obvious, right?
Well, most hiring companies only post to one or two job boards max. If you want to reach more talent in the market then you need to be posting to more job boards. It’s as simple as that. Boards we recommend are Reed, Jobsite, Totaljobs, CV-Library, indeed, Monster and Fish4Jobs. Want to know what boards are best for your role? Drop us a line, we can advise you.
2) CV Databases – get access to over 10 million CVs
Even with posting to all the boards, not all the jobseeking talent will see your advert.
That’s why we recommend you search the online databases of major job boards. They have over 10 million CVs of candidates seeking work that you can view and download.
The best boards for mid-level and junior roles are Reed, Jobsite and indeed.
3) Job Adverts – keep them short and interesting
The majority of ads posted online are plain boring – far too long and pretty much a copy of the job spec. In reality, ads that are short (about 700 words or less) perform the best.
Take into account that 90% of jobseekers now search for jobs on mobile devices (Workology). Also, make sure you really sell your company – what’s great about it, the people, the benefits, your product – don’t hold back!
4) Salary – make sure you list it and pay enough
If you’re not including the salary on your advert, you will experience a 35% drop in applicants (Payscale), so make sure it’s there. If you are going to list it, check you’re paying market rates and that it is competitive.
Looking to hire salespeople? Then include the OTE of your top earners. An average salary means average sales people. If you want advice on what you should be paying, drop us a line and we can help.
5) Referrals – take advantage of your network
Did you know that referrals can be the best source of talent for your company?
Referral programs can save companies £2500 or more per hire (Recruiter). Consider your LinkedIn network and other people you have worked with. Offer incentives, such as cash or prizes, to your staff for anyone they recommend who you hire.
You will soon realise they are a great source of talent.
So there you have it – 5 steps to getting 40% more talent for your role.
Of course, taking these steps by yourself can cost over £1,000 and require hours of additional work.
